Vray Maya 1.5 license just dissapeared

Hi,

I have bought and used Vray 1.5 along with Maya 8.0 for many years personally. I have never updated it as it was working fine by me, and I did not have the money to upgrade it, nor did I see a need to do so.

I bought a perpetual license along with a dongle.

I needed to re- setup my computer as it was buggy. As I wanted to reinstall my Vray 1.5 I found on the chaos group website under licensing the info that I have no licences available. Also there is no possible download for vray 1.5.

As I have bought a perpetual license I had the impression that it is forever for me to keep.

I wrote the customer supprt 3 times, but received no reply.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a way to get this resolved?

Dear customer,

Please be informed that after 7 years Chaos Group is ending support for V-Ray 1.5 for Maya on October 15, 2018. After this date, V-Ray 1.5 for Maya users will no longer have:

• on-demand download access of the V-Ray 1.5 for Maya builds
• upgrade options to V-Ray Next for Maya
• assisted technical support from Chaos Group
• software updates

If you are still running V-Ray 1.5 for Maya, your license will continue to work after October 15, 2018. Chaos Group will support only V-Ray 3.0 for Maya and V-Ray Next for Maya after this date.

Thanks for the reply. I get that the support is no longer happening. However, is there a way that I can download the installer so that I can re-install it?

Also, should not be my licence displayed anyway?

Basically you are telling me that a perpetual licence is not perpetual but only for 7 years??

In order to see and use your V-Ray license, make sure that you installed the latest version of V-Ray license server and the latest version of the wibu key driver needed for the USB dongle in order to work properly.
If the above installation is done, you can open the web page "localhost:30304" and make sure to activate by clicking Dongle>Enable and refresh the web page in order for dongle to appear in green and working.

Jup definetly so!
got contacted by a sales staff telling me they do not have a build on archive and I need to buy a new version.
First software company I know that does not keep an archive of their products.
I guess this is the end of me using vray. I do not like being lied to or ripped off.

sad. Chaos group used to be so cool.
