  • VRay Next to VRay 5

When VRay 5 Beta ends and actually releases, will those who have a VRay Next License Node still have access to VRay 5 or will we have to buy a different license like from VRay 3.6 to VRay Next?

When V-Ray 5 is released there will be upgrade options to V-Ray 5 for the V-Ray Next users. All purchases of new perpetual licenses for V-Ray for 3ds Max made between April 29, 2020 and the official release will be upgraded free of charge. For the rest of the V-Ray Next users there will be paid upgrade option to V-Ray 5. Also, all annual and monthly licenses that are active at the time of the official release will get V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max as part of their term license benefits.

Hello Ekaterina, will there be a possibility for an direct update from 3.7 to perpetual 5?
And, if I update from 3.7 to Next 4 now, will I get the update to 5 later for free ?, similar to the current practice, when buying a perpetual license.
      Kind regards
      Alex

Im not sure I understood if current annual licenses for Vray Next will get a free upgrade to 5 or not.

"For the rest of the V-Ray Next users there will be paid upgrade option to V-Ray 5"

"all annual and monthly licenses that are active at the time of the official release will get V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max as part of their term license benefits."

Do those statements contradict each other?

If you have perpetual licence then you have to pay for an upgrade, if you are renting then you just download it when it is ready.

So people that skipped a version pay only 1 time (3.6 to 5)
But those that keep current pays twice...... (3.6 to next when released to 5 when released)

            Am I reading that right?!?

            Kind Regards,
            Morne

Users with V-Ray 3 licenses will not be able to upgrade directly to V-Ray 5. Users who upgrade now to V-Ray Next will be eligible for paid upgrade to V-Ray 5. Please note that there will be an official communication from our side in the upcoming weeks regarding the V-Ray 5 upgrade policies.

On the other side of the coin, people with 3.6, will they get any discount to version 5?

                      Hello,

Please note that V-Ray 5 is officially released , which means that all V-Ray Next users are now eligible to upgrade their V-Ray licenses to the latest V-Ray 5 version. V-Ray 3 users are no longer eligible to upgrade their licenses.

I may be blind but I don't see any upgrade options on the chaosgroup website. I only see options to either rent/buy additional licenses.

*edit* Of course the moment I hit post I found the options in the account management part of the website. Please ignore this post :P
                            Cheers,
