  • Node Licensing (Could not obtain license (-7))

    Hi all,

Could someone help explain to me why over the weekend I was able distribute my renders between two PC's for over 57 hours with 1 Node License? I've tried to do the same today and have had no luck!
I was under the impression, before speaking to Chaosgroup, that the node included in the annual license was for that very purpose. Slightly annoyed that I was able to distribute for that length of time without any issue and to be told today that I now need to spend another £150.

    Thanks

One V-Ray Workstation license gives you one GUI license and one Render Node license.
GUI license allows you to use V-Ray inside the 3D application and set up your scenes.
Render Node license allows you to render on one machine.
You can buy separately Render Node licenses only if you want to render on more that one machine at a time.
In some 3D applications it is possible to disable the localhost rendering on the local machine and Distribute the rendering on the slave machine only and in this case, you will be able to render only with 1 x V-Ray Render Node license.
For example, you can exclude the localhost machine from rendering and not taking a V-Ray Render Node license in 3ds Max Distributed Rendering.
