  • Licenses without internet?

Hey Vray users, for the second time within some years we had two days without internet due to telekom problems. the second we are offline all vray licenses collapse, no rendering, no material editor, everything dead. we have six licenses with six artist watching youtube for two days.... well, 3dsmax is working without internet, itoosoft, cebas, microsoft, zbrush, everything running fine but no vray. I still believe in an license server installation error or some firewall whatever problem. same problem somewhere else? the chaos support line (uninstall, reinstall license server....) did not help.....

You can borrow the licenses for offline use:

      Kostadin,
I still dont get why vray needs internet - 3dsmax works, itoo works, cebas works but vray dies the very first second it´s offline. can´t be true....
I fear borrowing is quite a "stone-age" technique - it does not allow the licenses to float because borrowing binds the license to the borrowing machine, this won´t work for running the studio, of course. I would prefer the "bronze-age" technique using our dongles on the license server. we were running dongle licenses for many year without any flaw.....

Borrowing is not different from the dongle if all machines are in the same LAN. You can chose one dedicated machine, install the license server there and borrow the licenses. Then point every other computer to obtain the licenses from that dedicated server over the LAN.

          Hello,
I am looking for a quick and easy solution on the issue of licenses, I have 3 licenses, and approximately 10 rendering nodes, the problem is that when the internet goes down I lose the entire render farm until the service returns.
Isn't there a way to have a pc license manager with a license server that manages all the licenses locally? And avoid having to register each node with the web page? since not all nodes have access to the internet.
The previous version of Corona LicensingServer (7) worked fine.

Borrow your licenses. Then they are available offline. They will be automatically re-borrowed keeping them available offline indefinitely.

If you manually borrow a license on a machine, how long does it stay borrowed for?
