  • Plans and Pricing, Monthly?

I'm a bit confused about pricing. I believe I have a monthly plan - I definitely pay $84.90 per month but when I twirl down the "upgrade" tab it offers "Solo Annual" or Permium Monthly" so I am assuming I have "Solo Monthly" ... for $84.90 per month. Thats a lot. I could use some clarity on how pricing works. I'm looking at redshift now for $45 monthly and scratching my head as to why I'm paying double for the most basic plan, "monthly solo"?

It costs 2X monthly as opposed to annual.

Yeah their pricing is ridiculous, Indie license of 3ds max costs less. Adobe CC costs less for about 20 apps. And the updates are slow as F. Nothing noteworthy in the last 2 years almost. I'm also paying a lot more just to have a floating license. Blame the suits for that.

Agreed, it feels a bit insulting tbh. What is the calculation, other than greed-based? I very much doubt there is any credible reason for a month's use of whichever software to be double.

I agree the pricing is too high overall, mainly for render nodes. I can understand the higher monthly cost vs. annual, as having users commit to a year does allow better budgeting for the future.

But my main concern... I also have to agree that development has been EXTREMELY slow given the pricing. Reaction time to bugs and simple feature requests is also way too slow for VRay, and we need a public bug database like Nuke. The Phoenix guys would always fix bugs right away. This sort of response is critical for professional software.

For the record, I was only looking for clarity on pricing as the billing tab doesn't say what plan I have, only what I can upgrade to. I see it here in "active products." I had also forgotten that "monthly solo" pricing went up. I was still thinking it was $70-something.. Thank you everyone for the enlightening contributions. Hopefully going forward there will be opportunities to have access to yearly deals so I dont have to think about other render engines.
