Ensure Uninterrupted Access To Your Chaos Licenses

Dear Forum Community,

We wish to share this important update to Chaos Licensing as the server certificate will expire on January 28, 2025.

To ensure uninterrupted access to your licenses, you must update your Chaos License Server by January 28, 2025. Failure to do so will result in the loss of access to your licenses.


What you need to do:

• Option 1: Update the Chaos products you are using to their latest versions. Your Chaos Licensing system will update automatically.

• Option 2: If updating to the latest version isn’t an option, you can independently update the license server by following this detailed guide.

I saw no mention of the Linux license server in the linked docs regarding the updates. Is it safe to install the new version over the existing version on Linux? Have there been any library version requirement changes, or did the new version run anywhere the old one did?

One more question before we do this... Running on linux here-- if it matters...

Do we need to return any offline licenses before upgrading the server? Or can we just run the new installer and they will continue to work properly?

We always keep licenses checked out for offline use (on the server itself) so that there are no issues in the event of an internet outage on our main and backup connections. (You'd be amazed how multiple providers share the same fiber many places and a backhoe can cause a really bad day.)

Always release any borrowed licenses before updating/re installing the license server.

I have a permanent licenses so i can ignore this, right? Hope so!
Or do I need take care of something ?

Your license type is irrelevant. You need to have license server 5.5.6 or 6.1/6.2 installed in order to continue using your licenses. Versions 5.5.5 or below or 6.0 will stop working. They are already removed from the download page.

I don’t have access to my computer. I’m not using vray at the moment, is it fine for me to do this when I do have access after the 28th?
