  • 1 V-Ray license for both 3ds Max & Revit?

    Hello,

I have read through the FAQs but the following is still not clear to me: If I buy one Workstation (one GUI and one render node, online license, 750EUR) for 3ds Max, is it possible to use this specific V-Ray licence for Revit as well? Second question is: is it possible to use V-Ray license for 3ds Max on one machine and also use exactly same license for Revit on another machine? Of course not simultaneously.

    Thank you,

    Jan

    Hello,

Please be informed that V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max and V-Ray 3.0 for Revit require different type of licensing.
The V-Ray 3.0 Render node license provided with them are universal and can be used for rendering with V-Ray Standalone.
However the GUI (Interface license) are specific to the 3d platform and a V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max license cannot be used to create/edit scenes with V-Ray 3.0 in Revit and vise-versa.

Thank you for quick response. So if I understand it correctly, I would need to buy both V-Ray for Revit and for 3ds Max.

My last question then would be if its possible to use one license of V-Ray for Revit on multiple machines like it works with V-Ray for 3ds Max? Lets say I have one V-Ray for Revit license and I would like to use it (GUI and rendering) on two machines (home / work, not simultaneously). Is that possible?

      Thank you.

Yes, you will need both licenses in order to use V-Ray for 3ds Max and Revit.

The V-Ray licenses are floating which means that they are not locked to a specific computer. You can activate the license on multiple machines and use the software om them. Please note that you will need Online licenses for that purpose. If you already have a dongle it will be possible to transfer the licenses from it to the Online licensing system.
