My understanding is that you still will.

I've got two pcs, that’s two render nodes, so if DR using both, I need a copy of NEXT and a render node licence (so both machines can render simultaneously).

So, that means NEXT does nothing without a render node. You get a render node with NEXT (main machine) and you have to purchase another render node for the slave.

It is a little sales double talk, but it is what it is.

            Hello,

Just to clarify - the V-Ray Next for 3ds Max Workstation license contains 1x V-Ray Next for 3ds Max (GUI) interface license that allows you to create, edit, open scenes with V-Ray inside 3ds Max on a single computer and 1x V-Ray Next Render node license that allows you to render with V-Ray on a single computer.

In V-Ray Next for 3ds Max it is possible to work on your V-Ray scenes in 3ds Max on your local workstation while the rendering is performed only on a remote render node computer (excluding the local workstation from the rendering). This kind of setup is useful if you want to use your workstation for other tasks and at the same time leave the CPU/GPU intensive rendering to the remote node. That could be achieved with a single V-Ray Next for 3ds Max Workstation license.

However if you want your local workstation to render along with the remote render node you will need a total of 1x V-Ray Next for 3ds Max Workstation license (for the GUI and the rendering on the workstation) and 1x V-Ray Next Render node license (for the rendering on the remote render node). Each additional render node computer will need an extra V-Ray Next Render node license.

What if I'll never render on my main workstation and always render to a slave? Would the V-Ray Next with 1 node work for me? EDITED: I guess your second paragraph answers that question, duh!

yeah i really wish there was a lower price bracket for freelancers who dont have a large renderfarm. A bundle of 5 render nodes with main software would be awesome.
