  • My Render-Node Licence isn't set up to include NEXT (so doesn't work)

I have two PC computers, one as a main workstation (with a Dongle), the other as a Render Node (no Dongle).

Until last week, I owned one copy of VRay 3.0 and 5 render nodes (all 3.0).

Until last week, Distributed Rendering was working fine.

Last week I upgraded my VRay to NEXT and just one of my 5 render nodes to NEXT as well.

But when I tried Distributed Rendering, the Render Node would not assist - the spawner on the Render Node said couldn't licence the Render Node.....

    When I go to localhost:30304 on both machines I see that;

PC-1 (my workstation) has two render nodes

PC-2 (my Render Node) has V-Ray NEXT BETA Render Nodes.

It looks like all my Render Nodes are all attached to the Dongle ??

How can I fix this ?

I need my extra Render Nodes to be free of the Dongle, no ?

    Please see attached.

    Many thanks.

      Hello,

      Please try the following:
      1. Set the primary license server to "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" on both PC-1 and PC-2
      2. Set the alternative license server 1 to the hostname of PC-1 on PC-2
      3. Do the vice-versa on PC-1
      4. Make sure that V-Ray Next for 3ds Max is installed on both computers (please select the "Workstation" version from the installer).
      5. In case you have already installed the full version please restart V-Ray on both computers then try to render.

It is also possible to migrate your dongle license to the Online licensing system - this will give you the following two options:
      1. Install the license server locally on both machines and set the primary licenses server address to "localhost"
      2. Install the license server only on one of the machines and set its hostname as the primary license server on the other computer.

For more information on how to change the primary and the alternative license server addresses please check:
