  • Dongle licenses stuck on the license server, online licenses work

    We upgraded our (only) license server to 5.1.1. We currently have 1 online license and 3 dongle licenses.

    Since the upgrade the license server no longer lets workstations have dongle licenses even though they appear to be available.

    V-Ray for Rhino alerts "Unable to acquire V-Ray for Rhino GUI License!"

    You can migrate the licenses to Online, if you were planning to do so anyway - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...icenses+Online

    If not - you can try disabling the LTP and COM ports from the drivers, if you're using Windows license server:

    1. Open Control Panel-> WibuKey

    2. Left-click on the upper-left corner of the windows and choose "Advanced Mode"

    4. Restart the license server (Run->services.msc->VRLService ->right-click->Restart)


    And test if you'll get the same behavior after?

      After following the above instructions neither the license server setup page nor the licenses are any longer available.

        Hello,

        Please try the following:
        1. Uninstall the current version for the Chaos Group License Server (Control Panel -> Programs and Features)
        2. Delete the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup
        3. Install this version of the license server (you will be asked to activate it during the installation):

        If you still get an issue afterwards please send us the the log files from http://localhost:30304/logs/download to support@chaosgroup.com
        Also please save the content of the following pages in text files and forward it to us:
        http://localhost:30304/sessions/online
        http://localhost:30304/sessions/dongle
        http://localhost:30304/status

        Please mention the forum thread in your e-mail.

          We just get "Activation failed, please activate manually". Obviously the logs cannot be downloaded.

            Please run the installation again. When you get to the activation please select "Skip" then continue with the setup. It will be possible to activate later at http://localhost:30304
            In case you are not able to reach the license server web interface afterwards please collect the logs manually from the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\logs" and send them to support@chaosgroup.com
