  • Strange licence behaviour

    Hey guys,

I'm not sure if the licence system is designed to do this, or not - it all seems very odd to me if it is by design.

We have interface licences for workstations, and node licences for nodes. Simple.

Upon checking the licence server my workstation IP shows up under the node licences when rendering, and my colleagues workstation IP doesn't show up at all even though he's rendering as normal. If that wasn't confusing enough our other colleague PC does show up as an interface licence.

    What is going on!?

We had, unfortunately, a problem on the backend, should be OK now - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...n-22-june-2018

All machines render fine; but the licences show up in the wrong place (as per my previous post). Should my WORKSTATION be showing up under the NODE licences? Surely not?

I can't really understand what you mean. If you click on a certain product, you'll see all licenses associated with it. If you click on "Render node" - you'll see only the render node licenses.

My workstation is showing up as a render node, and my colleagues (when he is rendering) IP doesn't even show up at all.

Your workstation also can use a render node license - if it is included in the rendering. If you don't have Render Settings opened or Phoenix engaged - an Interface license won't be checked out.
