It has been many years since I have used a render node, other than my main workstation, so I am rusty. I installed V-Ray and the license manager, the spawner is running, but I am getting an error. I checked my online license manager and it shows that the new one is there. Please advise.

Hello Bobby,
It seems that the render node is not able to reach the V-Ray license server. Can you please make sure that the primary license server is set to the hostname or the IP address of your workstation where the license server is running:
https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...cense+Settings
Please restart the spawner afterwards otherwise the changes will not take effect.
If you are still getting an error afterwards please check if there is any firewall/antivirus application that might be blocking the access to your workstation on port 30304 where the license server is running.
If necessary please add the exceptions manually:

HI, I'm having exactly this issue but I cannot figure out why windows 10 won't open ports 20204 and 30304 when they are added as a firewall exception. I've even added them to the router but checking the port status online it says it's closed. Turning off the antivirus also doesn't work. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this? I have all the latest update for Windows 10. Thank you for your help, Jon

I'm not sure what finally worked for me. I think making my machines public instead of private might have been what worked.Bobby Parker

Please try to add the exceptions in the firewall manually if you have not done so already. Please check if you have any "Blocking" rules that apply to the license server, the V-Ray spawner or to 3ds Max - if you do please disable them as they will most probably override the rules that allow the connection.
In case your firewall is controlled by your domain administrator please check with your IT.
If you are still experiencing issues afterwards please write us an e-mail to support@chaosgroup.com and we will troubleshoot further.
