  • Is V-Ray for SketchUp Version 3.60.02 & 3.60.03 License the same?!!

    Hello,
    I need your help, please.
I was using V-ray for SketchUp 3.60.02 as a trial. Then I considered purchasing it. I paid for it and finished my purchase today. In the email from Chaos's sales, I've been provided with the download link. When I accessed the downloads page I found there a new release I found version 3.60.03 ADV. I downloaded it but before downloading this version I was wondering how to activate my Vray. I accessed the V-Ray menu under Extensions menu in SketchUp Pro 2018 and clicked "Activate V-Ray License". Nothing happened except that "Activate V-Ray License" Command get dimmed (I think activation is done). Immediately, I installed the newly downloaded V-Ray for SketchUp version i.e. 3.60.03 ADV. I went through installation and completed it successfully. I Ran the SketchUp and tried to run V-Ray by clicking Asset Editor, I couldn't run V-Ray. I got a message saying " Failed to checkout V-ray GUI license". I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, still not working. Then, I reinstalled license Server 5.1.1 but it is still NOT working. I am totally confused. I am not able to access V-Ray!!

    Update!!
I've uninstalled the version 3.60.03 and reinstalled version 3.60.02 and things work fine. However, after activating the V-Ray, I selected "License Server" from the License Menu under V-Ray Extention Menu in SketchUp. I've been transferred to a webpage titled "License Server" where I see two options :
    1. Online Licensing
    2. DONGLE

On this page, I've noticed an update is available for the License Server. My LS version is 4.5.1 and the update offered is to LS version 5.0.1. I download the update and installed it.

After updating the License Server, and running V-Ray in SketchUp, I got the same old problem. V-Ray is not working again. Every time I click on Asset Editor button in SketchUp I got the same old message "Failed to checkout V-ray GUI license".

I am really not understanding how licensing is working in Vray for SketchUp or maybe in Chaos Group. By the way, I don't have a dongle.

Main Questions is, am I eligible to update to V-Ray for SketchUp 3.60.03? Is updating to LS 5.1.1 or 5.0.1 is in conflict to the License I had purchased yesterday?

All V-Ray 3.x.x minor versions use the same license.
To use your license - it's best to upgrade to the latest license server version - https://download.chaosgroup.com/license-server
"Activating" when using Online licensing in terms of the license server means to log in with your CG username in the license server menu - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...tup-Activation
You can check if your license is visible if you navigate to http://localhost:30304 in your browser. If it is - start SketchUp and try rendering.

I am already installing Server License 5.1.1. It is the latest version and still I am not able to access license server menu. When I was installing v3.60.02 I was able to access it but it shows expiry date of the license very soon (the expiry of one month trial).

license server page is not accessible. When trying to access though license server menu, I got "This site can’t be reached 127.0.0.1 refused to connect" even though I was able to access the license server page with trial version.

        See attached.

          Hello,

It appears that there is an issue with the installation of the License Server.
Please perform a clean installation following these steps:
          1. Uninstall the Chaos Group license server from "Control Panel" -> "Programs and Features"
          2. Delete the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup"
          3. Run the license server (5.1.1) installation by right clicking on it and selecting the "Run as administrator" option.

Afterwards please check if you are able to access http://localhost:30304

            Great!!

Now I am able to access the http://localhost:30304 but the license information is incorrect. The License Server Page says my online license will finish soon while I just purchased it (it should be Non-expiring license). Please see attached.

              Hello,

It is possible that the expiration message is related to a V-Ray Trial license that you have previously applied.

Please send us these screenshots including the information about the username that you are currently logged in to support@chaosgroup.com in order to provide you with more specific information regarding your licenses.
