  • Upgraded to Vray Next and now I can't connect to host

I upgraded my second computer to Vray Next, I got the RTU file, ran and all went well. For some mysterious reason I can't connect to the host, I keep getting:

    This site can’t be reached
    localhost refused to connect.
    Search Google for localhost 30304

The Activation also Failed during the License Serve installation. I tried already:

-Changing the dongle to a different USB port

-Uninstalling Vray and License Server and install again

    Nothing worked.

Now the magical aspect of all this! I plugged the dongle on my Primary computer (which I have another Dongle for it) and it works with no problems.

Any idea what it could be causing this? My Vray 3.6 was working with no issues prior to the upgrade.

On the same topic, are you guys working on improving the License Server? EVERY single time I upgrade I run into a license issue. I have been using Redshift sometimes and it has the simplest and most effective license system possible.

    Thanks,

    -Fausto.

    Hi Fausto,
i had also some license access problems after upgrading to Vray Next. I had to download and install the latest license server. After that everything runs fine.

    Best regards,
    Ralf

Just want to update you guys. I resolved the issue by Uninstalling Vray Next and the latest License Server, then proceed to install Vray 3.6.04.

After installed I checked and I was able to connect with Host with no problems. I then installed Vray Next again but this time skipped the license server install.

I can now connect to the Host and Vray next is running so is clear to me that he new License Server was causing the issue.

Most likely the dongle part of the license server needed to be restarted after the dongle upgrade. When upgrading the dongles - it's best to stop the dongle from the license server menu, apply the .rtu and start the dongle part from Dongle -> Enable in the license server menu.

Hi Ivan, if that was the case, I believe the Dongle would not work on my Primary computer correct? The Dongle was working fine on my primary computer while I could not connect to Host on the Laptop. After re-installing Vray 3.6 and an older License Server, everything worked.

I can't really say for sure what the issue is, maybe a windows component that a later license server was using is missing, or the drivers may be old, or something else. You can message us at support@chaosgroup.com so that we can help in troubleshooting. A dongle should work on every supported OS - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...m+Requirements

that has drivers and a license server instance installed.
