VRLService Error 1053: service did not respond

I’ve lost access to my vray license in max (could not obtain a license –200, the chaos group license server could not be reached) and I’ve noticed that my VRLservice isn’t running. When I do try and start it up,

“Windows could not start the VRLService on Local Computer . The error I get in 1053: service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.”

When I try and access http://localhost:30304/ it says the site can’t be reached.

I've uninstalled vray and the license server, rebooted and reinstalled. Updating the license server to the latest 5.1.2 but still no joy.
I've even tried a regedit "ServicesPipeTimeout" fix I found online.

Please help, I have deadlines looming!

Hello,

Please try the following:
1. Uninstall the Chaos Group License Server.
2. Delete the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup
3. Install version 4.5.1 - you can download it from here:
https://download.chaosgroup.com/down...dalone-451-adv
4. Check if the license server is accessible from http://localhost:30304 - if it is then please run the license server 5.1.2 installation.

In case it works with license server 4.5.1 but not with 5.1.2 then please create an archive with the logs from C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\logs and send them to support@chaosgroup.com so we can check the issue.
Afterwards please repeat steps 1 to 3 to use 4.5.1 as a temporally workaround while we investigate the issue with 5.1.2 setup.

just spent an hour trying to figure out why online licensing wouldn´t work on my other workstation, until I found this thread.
Just out of curiosity, have you found the problem with the new version?

ver 5 generates it's certificates differently than ver.4 . Sometimes after you had ver. 5 a ver 4.x is installed with an old build and that messes the certificates up and they have to be deleted manually so that the license server's able to recreate them.
Also - I've seen a couple of cases where older OS version like WinServer2k8 R2 have some components of the OS missing and cannot generates the certificates, but that's a rare exception.

Hello my motherboard had to exchange and now the problem with the license server 5.2.2 error 1053 with the installation of the Licenc server the Localhost also does not answer with the old Licenc Server4.5 that has always worked man can still download or what should I do???????????

Try to:

1. Uninstall the license server
2. Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\ssl" folder
3. Install the license server anew
4. Log in again from http://localhost:30304 ->Online licensing->Enable

Same error. Changed intel to amd and now can't start with 1053 error Deleted everything Several times. Tho, didn't install ver 4, can't find it. Win10 1909. (I tried almost all 5.1.xx)

You might need to delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\ssl" folder if you change a motherboard or a CPU to be able to reactivate.
