  • V-ray Fails to Check GUI License

    Good morning everyone -

Just decided to post to the forums for the first time because I have not been able to solve my problem with research. It's a pretty common licensing problem from what I understand. I'm currently on the trial version as I have reservations about paying for the full license if the licensing server isn't reliable.

I run Sketchup Make 2017 on a Mac. (High Sierra). I downloaded the free trial as a student and was fairly pleased with the quality of the renderings. (Podium wouldn't load, Lumion only runs on a PC, and other engines produced horrible quality images). Randomly, the licensing server started to have problems. Launching V-ray gives me this sketchup error: "Failed to Checkout V-ray GUI License". I uninstalled the server and re-downloaded the licensing server to no avail - did the same thing for both V-ray and the licensing server and have no luck.

I understand there's a LocalHost webpage you can navigate to in order to evaluate your license online - but this page won't load whatsoever. I don't get an error, it just doesn't load. I can't get far enough to troubleshoot my license.

This is quite frustrating - I would like to purchase the full license but have major reservations about the reliability of the plugin. What other options do I have to get V-ray up and running?

    Cheers
