  • Problem with obtaining a V-Ray Next for 3ds Max licence

    Hello all
I have the problem that my V-Ray Next licence is not visible via the Licence Server Interface.
After the installation of V-Ray Next I'm getting the "could not obtain a licence (-197) error. If I check the licence (http://localhost:30304) I can only see my old V-Ray for Max 3.0 and Render Node 3.0 licences and not V-Ray Next. According to my reseller V-Ray Next online licence should be ready. I've also got the confirmation mail from Chaos Group a couple of days ago.
I've already de-installed the older versions and reinstalled the latest licence server 5.1.2. but that did not helped.

My older installation (3ds max 2018 with V-Ray 3.6 is working fine)

Has anybody the same issue or an idea what could might be wrong?

    Thanks for any suggestions

Please refresh your web page and check if the V-Ray Next license appears now under the License server web interface.
We checked and updated your username and licenses, now it should appear correctly. Please check from your side and let us know if the issue is resolved.

      Hello Stefane
Apparently, it worked. I now see my V-Ray Next license in the portal.
I did a test render and both V-Ray Next and V-Ray 3.6 are working fine.

Somehow I just don't see my 3 rendernodes and the license for V-Ray 3.x anymore. Is that normal?

      Thanks for your help.

        Hi,

The render nodes should be visible under V-Ray | Render node section in the license server. Since you upgraded the license the V-Ray 3 license you used to have is now transformed into V-Ray Next license. The additionals render nodes are not updated, though, so you can use them only with V-Ray 3. That's also the reason they don't show under V-Ray Next tab.
