Please provide us with more details of the 3D application, V-Ray version and are you able to render without any problems? What is the name of the process that takes the higher amount of CPU and Memory when rendering is running?
You can also write to support@chaosgroup.com if you want to share more details or screenshots of your issue.

I run 2990wx with w10 and latest vray next in max/standalone/Houdini beta and can say that i runs fine. Are you sure your PC/CPU is not overheating? you CPU temp should not go above 67 Celsius otherwise CPU will start to throttle....

        Thanks for the reply.
I am using enermax 280 liquid cooler, for three months, first two months on win 10 no problems, then some internet issues, system slow and restarts to temporary user profile with only solution was restore point. so finally decided to reinstall.
I think you are right. I checked the temperatures during the rendering and they are around 70C, when I run vray benchmark after fresh cold computer start it results in 28s, later gets really slow.
after liquid cooler seems to fail am really considering to try noctua nh u-14s with additional fan....;(

sorry I drop this thread in wrong place, could you admin move it to general problems please?

        many thanks...

On all hardware forums enermax TR4 liquid cooler is notoriously know for all kind of issues with leaking, clogging, algae buildup etc. Enermax USA officialy comfirmed that this first gen version is faulty, they were returning/replacing it to those who wanted to try their luck again... , after all this issue they released second gen version too that should have been fixed(autumn 201. But again they official confirmed the first batch of second gen was broken too. If i would you i would look for different brand...
I don`t know what your daily/usual rendering load is, but rendering for hours on 2990WX aircooled is not the brightest idea. I have dual 360radiators and at 30% fans speed(i like silence in case) they can barely keep it under 60 degreees. But i render/simulate almost 24/7...
I can easily imagine you`ll have to run aircooler cpu fan at 100% speed when rendering, and even then you can get throttled, all depends on your airflow in case, other heatsources(gpu etc).

I was aware of the tr4 enermax problems, but was lured by benchmarks and second gen fix - big mistake...
I could not resist and need fast replacement, noctua arrived this morning. so far 50min rendering stress temperature did not go over 63C, cpu fan speed shows 720rpm (1500 is manufacturers max). very, very quiet comparing to enermax. are there any settings in bios or windows to improve the vray benchmark? had 27s before, now 29s only - that is slow comparing to average resuts. PBO to 6 had 23s with noctua and average lower temps but fans were loud (probably max)....

you can try to manually undervolt in the bios with voltage offset. PBO is putting quite a bit of juice into CPU so temps are much higher if you were running manual OC. It will take couple of restarts to find a sweet spot between voltage and stability, but i`m sure you can shave off few degrees.
