  • license dissapeared AGAIN

ok this is useless. i was working happily in max, using my NEXT demo license. Suddenly my material editor samples went black.. vray says no license available.

license manager says licenses in use / available.

i saved and shiut down max.

since this is the second time this has happened, i decided to "borrow" the licenses for offline use.. i went through the wizard and "borrowed" my next demo licenses.

    restarted max

still says no licenses available.. actually now says it cannot reach the chaos license server.

ive restarted the license server on my machine but nothing.

im due to deliver renders in the next couple of days..

these license issues are totally unacceptable. is this normal for NEXT?

    my license is back
what on earth is causing this? and surely a borrowed license should be available always?

A borrowed license should always be available, yes, but the licensing needs to be working at the time you are borrowing the license. Afterwards there should be no problems.

As for the reason for this particular drop-out, this was caused by an update of the licensing infrastructure and is hopefully the last time this happens. I will ask someone from the licensing team to give you more details.

      Best regards,
      Vlado

        Chaos Group Licensing Incident

        27 February 2019

        Summary

An outage lasting approximately 6 minutes and 24 seconds was observed at the licensing backend of the Chaos Group services.

The incident started at 2019-02-27 16:52 UTC and ended at 2019-02-27 16:58 UTC.

        Affected parties

V-Ray users who were using the online licensing during the above timeframe. Dongle and offline licensing users were not affected.

        Timeline
15:40 UTC A deployment of the core-service was started, with prepared change the network topology of the licensing infrastructure.
16:52 UTC Our Global Load balancer was unable to redirect traffic to the core-service during the update, temporarily disabling our license-granting capabilities.
16:57 UTC Revert of change has been applied. The load balancer started redirecting traffic to the core-services.
We have identified the root cause of the problem and are actively evaluating solutions that will minimize the impact of service resource exhaustion to our end customers in the future, as well as process improvements to better notify customers in the event of a service disruption or a service outage.
Please, monitor our https://status.chaosgroup.com for real time information.
