  • Vray 2.0 doesn't work anymore

    Hello all,

I've been having this problem occasionally, maybe every 2 months. I am using Sketchup 16 with Vray 2.0, and I have a dongle as licence. The message on the image would appear. Click image for larger version

I found on the web somewhere a 'vray fix', that was working - until now. It was an .exe. file called vrlservice_windows, that made Vray work again after running it.
Now nothing works anymore. I uninstalled Vray, Sketchup, installed all again, and I'm still getting the same message as above. This is super frustrating, I called the technical support and apparently they are not doing the support for Vray 2.0 anymore. (?!)
Can anybody help me with this, anybody encountered the same issue?

    Thank you in advance!

You can try a clean reinstall of the dongle drivers - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...Dongle+Drivers
New drivers can be downloaded from here - https://www.wibu.com/support/user/downloads-user-software.html?tx_wibudownloads_downloadlist[searchTerm]=Wibukey+Runtime
After that - run a license server installation - https://download.chaosgroup.com/down...dalone-522-adv

      Hi Ivan,

Thank you for your answer. So I did all the steps, did a clean reinstall of the drivers, downloaded new drivers and ran a licence server installation. Everything went well.
Finally one of the installation pages suggests to 'connect the dongle to your machine and wait until it's recognized by the OS, start the License Server and enable Dongle usage'. The last step, Dongle usage, for me results in the photo below, and I am not sure if it's supposed to blink orange or to be green. In any case, I am still receiving the same message as before when I open the Sketchup.
Just t make sure, I re-did all the steps you suggested once again, and it's still not working. I don't know what else to do.

What's the OS on the license server machine? Check if the dongle can be seen in the drivers' menu:
Windows - this can be seen in "Control Panel"->All Control Panel Items->WibuKey->"Content" tab.
MAC/Linux - > the output of "wku" command. If the dongle is not visible - try another USB port.

          Hi Ivan,

thank you for your answer once again. I think I finally figured out the problem, the dongle seems to be physically damaged!
9 out of 10 times when inserted in the USB port it 'malfunctions' - I see the message on the bottom right side. Then one time it seemed to be running ok, and finally Vray was working.
However, it stops again on the slightest move of the computer or vibration. Is there a possibility to have it exchanged/cloned for a new dongle?

          Thank you in advance!

You can get a new dongle from one of our resellers - https://www.chaosgroup.com/how-to-buy/
Once you get it - send us a .wbc from it at sales@chaosgroup.com and ask for the licenses to be transferred to it.
