  • Workstation VFB & IPR using Render node licenses from OLS, NOT Workstation licneses

Using 3dsMax & Vray Next 1.2 our workstations, running Workstation VRay installations, are using rendernode licenses from our OLS and not workstation licenses. This is causing our rendernodes to lose their licenses on our farm. (Rendernodes are VRay rendernode installations.)

This is also happening with 3dsMax 2017 & VRay 3.7 in the same way.

Why are VFB & IPR rendering not using the workstation licenses?

OLS version is 5.2.2 & in Online mode

    Tim.

Support have replied to our ticket and it seems this is normal behavior for licensing. Workstation licenses do not allow you to render, only rendernode licenses do.

Yes, a "Workstation" is a license only in terms of it being a product you purchase. In terms of license engagement, it's a license package that contains interface licenses (engaged when V-Ray's interface is used) and Render node licenses (engaged while rendering).
