  • I have a Vray Next license and one render node license. When the render node is in use, the main Vray license is not available

When using the render node on PC2 (which is shown in use on localhost:30304), then the workstation Vray Next license isn't rendering on PC1, even though it shows that it is in use on PC1.

PC1 is giving license error -98

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

    Hello,

You own 1 V-Ray Workstation package for 3ds Max. A Workstation package contains 1 Interface (GUI) and 1 Render node license. The GUI license is used for editing your scenes inside 3ds Max, it is engaged once you open the Render Setup window and select V-Ray as the default renderer. The Render node license is engaged only when you are rendering your scene.
Your screenshot shows that you have engaged the GUI license on PC1 - probably you have opened the Render Setup window there.
PC2 is shown to be engaging the Render node license - this means that you have set up a distributed rendering.

With only 1 Render node license, you will be able to render on one machine at a given time. You can choose to render on your main workstation or distribute render to another machine, its up to your personal preference and workflow.
