  • Vray 3.6 render node?

Hi. I have Vray 3.6 (the last version before Next) and I have one additional render node licence. I have a blue USB dongle with my licence info on - all bought from Blue GFX in the UK.
Can i still buy an additional Vray 3.6 render node - so I can use 3 machines instead of just the 2 for DR? I cannot see this option anywhere on the site as I guess it's all moved to Vray Next - which I cannot afford to move to at the moment - just would like one more render node and a cost to purchase outright as opposed to monthly or yearly.
    Thanks.

Hi, let me help with the needed info!

We do not offer V-Ray 3 Render Node licenses anymore, however, the V-Ray Next Render Node - Perpetual license is fully backwards compatible and will work with your V-Ray 3.6 for 3ds Max. Obtaining this license would allow you to do distributed rendering on one more additional machine.

In terms of pricing and licensing options, the V-Ray Next Render Node - Perpetual license costs £320 (excl. VAT) and will work with all V-Ray Next for 3ds Max and V-Ray 3 for 3ds Max builds. If you are looking for a option requiring less initial investment, you may consider the V-Ray Render Node - Annual license. It costs £130/year (excl. VAT) and will be compatible with all available V-Ray for 3ds Max versions during the rental period, including V-Ray 5 when released.

Let me know if you need any additional information or assistance.

      Thanks Ivan.
I seem to recall I recieved a text file from Blue GFX with instructions on how to update my licence / USB Dongle to add the additional licence - assume it's the same process but I would have the additional render node that would work for me now - with what I already have - and would also work when I eventually upgrade to Vray Next - or Vray 5

        Hi,

Let me add that online licensing is the single licensing method we now support (we do not support dongle licensing anymore). So any new purchases / upgrades would have the license applied to your online licensing account. You can still use your V-Ray 3 licenses on your dongle until you decide to upgrade. If you purchase a new render node license, it will be applied to your online licensing account, but there will be no problem to use it together with your current V-Ray 3 licenses on your dongle.

And yes, I'd also recommend to you the annual or monthly licensing options based on the fact that there will be a V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max release in the near future. The monthly license costs £60/month (excl. VAT) and also entitles you to use the latest available major version. But if you plan to use the license for more than 6 months, then the annual license would be the more cost-effective option.

Let me know if you need any additional information or assistance, I'd be glad to help!
