  • Just saw VRay 5 is out.

Just installed Rhino again after a down drive. Have Rhino 6, had bought VRay Next and downloaded it. Installed it and now it is giving me a browser page error: Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:30304.

Also, right after that fails I get a pop up window in Rhino: Unable to acquire V-Ray for Rhino GUI License.

I had a dongle but wasn't asked to insert it and have no idea how to go about using it with the new VRay, which I guess superseded VRay Next? And even if it needs the dongle, the last time I had fully installed it I had to go through an extensive series of hoops to get thatto work back then. No idea what the process is now or, again, if my dongle would work.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello,

You will not be able to use V-Ray 5 for Rhino builds, if you own V-Ray NEXT licenses. You need to upgrade your V-Ray NEXT license to V-Ray 5, in order to use V-Ray 5 builds.

If you cannot open localhost:30304, please uninstall the Chaos Group license server and remove any remaining files from the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup

Afterwards, download and install the latest Chaos license server 5.5.1 from the following page:

    https://download.chaosgroup.com/down...dalone-551-adv

Go to the Chaos License server page (http://localhost:30304), enable your Online/Dongle licensing and tell me if you can see your V-Ray licenses. Send us screenshots via our contact form here:

Okay, weird, since VRay 5 was in my downloads... unless I navigated to the wrong download area. How much, or where can I find the page to see how much the upgrade will cost. And it IS an upgrade? VRay 5 is a better thing than Next? Thanks again for the info.
