  • Error Message when booting c4d

I just attempted to open a file created in c4d studio R18 that I have opened many times, and got this rather arcane error message.
"Could not obtain a license (-9: There are no available licenses of this type on the ChaosGroup License Server"

    I am using Vray 3.7.
    Any explanation for this???

Well, I found out, no thanks to anyone on the forum, that the reason I was getting the error message was because my 3.7 license had expired, and that if I wanted to continue to use Vray for c4d, I would need to upgrade to a paid yearly subscription. To me, this would be tantamount ( if you know what that means) to me, for example, using a paid copy of Photoshop for years and having them tell me suddenly, that I could no longer use the program and that I would be forced to begin a monthly paid subscription if I wanted to continue to use the version I paid for. That just seems wrong. I can go for months without the need to use Vray for C4d. So to have to pay for something I rarely use seems a bit off....I think not having the option to purchase a perpetual license, is a mistake. What happens as a result, is that you lose customers like me. I am pretty sure you won't lose sleep over that, but that is a reality you will live with. In my view, that was a really stupid move on your part, sad to say. Oh well.
