Make sure the license server is running. Click on Windows Start button type Start Chaos License Server and press enter. Try to load http://localhost:30304 after that. Make sure Chaos License Server Supervisor is enabled in your Windows Startup Apps as well, otherwise it will not start automatically after restart.

I was rendering fine all day and then it died. After trying for a couple of hours it started working again.

The auto borrow system actually works quite well. Once you borrow it will autorenew automatically. I believe it does this within 3 days of expiration (I wish it would renew daily, or at least when there was one week remaining, as this would mitigate the risk much better.)

What many people don't realize is that, unless you borrow your licenses, if your internet goes down (or Chaos' servers go down) you have no VRay at all! Unacceptable risk, IMHO.

Same with my Cosmos now - local host refuses to connect. This all happened after a Windows update yesterday.

The license server and cosmos work the same way, there is a process which needs to be running. Its Chaos license server and Chaos cosmos process, you can manually start them from their shortcuts. Its unlikely that the process will stop by itself and then start randomly. Use the link in my signature to open a support ticket so we could troubleshoot further.

I had the DELL guy login to troubleshoot something unrelated. He turned off all startups!
