  • No License available (Corona) - despite online portal showing no problems

I was able to work in Max (and access the renderer settings) for roughly 1 hour, then tried to render and Max reported a missing license (error -197):

My online portal is reporting a free workstation license, at the same time Corona refuses to use it. What is happening here?
Btw, this seems to be a problem for numerous people right now, not only me.

Chaos, we ARE PAYING UPFRONT for 1 year of usage of your product. Why you feel it's ok to check licensing at every step using your product (material editor, scatter plugins) is a mystery to me. You're doing everything wrong by assuming your paying clients are trying to cheat.

We have an active, valid contract, that you and I agree upon when I pay you upfront. Stop acting like we owe you money. Now please fix your stuff and start doing what you've been good at for so many years before big money took over.

I'm experiencing the same issue. All licenses suddenly stopped working. Does anyone know what's going on?

Reinstalling license server with these steps helped in my case:
          1. Uninstall the Chaos License Server:
            • Navigate to: Start Menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, locate the Chaos License Server, and uninstall it.
          2. Delete the following folders:
            • C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\VRLService
            • C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\ssl
            • %appdata%\Chaos\VRLService\ssl
