Hi,
I'm writing because I’m having persistent issues with the Chaos License Server on my Windows machine. I have a valid V-Ray Collection license (running until May 16), and everything worked completely fine on two separate days last week. The license was recognized, Rhino started up with V-Ray without any problems, and the License Server showed the correct status.
Since then, something changed. Now, when I open the License Server (http://localhost:30304), it always shows “No licenses available”. The login works – I can sign in using my Chaos account without any problem – but the license is not picked up. The red dot remains, and I don’t see anything listed under available licenses.
Under the red dot in the “Online licensing” dropdown, I see a warning saying that the proxy settings are configured incorrectly. There’s a “Configure” link next to it, but it’s not clickable – nothing happens when I try to use it.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
No matter what I try, I end up in the same state: I can log in, the license is visible on my Chaos account online, but the License Server doesn’t show it and offers no option for offline licensing – not during installation and not through the browser interface.
At this point, I’m assuming that the server needs to connect online at least once to activate licensing features, but in my case that’s not possible due to network restrictions. Unfortunately, even the fallback offline workflow seems unavailable.
Could you help me figure out how to:
Let me know what information you need from me – logs, screenshots, or anything else – and I’ll send it right away.
Thanks in advance,
Tobi

Here’s what I’ve already tried:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the License Server multiple times (including restarts)
- Manually deleted folders under C:\Program Files\Chaos and AppData\Roaming\Chaos
- Tried installing completely offline and skipped the login
- Launched the installer with --custom and --offline=1 flags
- Tried command-line tools like vrol.exe and vrlctl.exe – no usable commands for generating a request file were available
- Confirmed that firewall rules for vrlservice.exe and vrlsupervisor.exe are set correctly (added manually via netsh, with admin rights)
No matter what I try, I end up in the same state: I can log in, the license is visible on my Chaos account online, but the License Server doesn’t show it and offers no option for offline licensing – not during installation and not through the browser interface.

Could you help me figure out how to:
- Enable or trigger offline activation manually (generate a .csr or similar)
- Bind the license to this specific machine or get it recognized locally
Let me know what information you need from me – logs, screenshots, or anything else – and I’ll send it right away.
Thanks in advance,
