  • Could not obtain a licence (-200)

I started up Max, loaded a scene and when I tried to render in Vray. I got "Could not obtain a licence (-200)". On trying to open localhost:30304, I got "Unable to connect". I use online licensing, so do not have a dongle. I checked Services and the licence server is running... Not sure what else to do. It was working just fine earlier today. but now this

    Hi Andy,

    Please try to following:
    1. Uninstall the V-Ray Online License Server from "Control Panel" -> "Programs and Features"
    2. Delete the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup" folder
    3. Install the latest release of the V-Ray Online License Server: https://download.chaosgroup.com/license-server

Afterwards try to open http://localhost:30304 and if you are still getting licensing issues please send the logs from C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\logs to support@chaosgroup.com in order to troubleshoot the issue further.

Sorry for the late reply, got called away and only just got back... Anyway I followed your instructions and all is good again, so thanks for that Milhail.. was in a bit of a panic there..

Also turns out it may have been caused by the latest "Feature update for Windows 10 1709" and if true, this may help others cure this problem.

          Hello,

Can you please set the "V-Ray Client License Settings" to point to 127.0.0.1 and port 30304
Do to so you will need to run the "setvrlservice" with the parameters -server=127.0.0.1 and -port=30304
For more information on how to do it please check the documentation here:
          https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ettings-MacOSX

Additionally please make sure that the firewall (or a third party application) is not blocking the access to port 30304 on your machine.

Afterwards you can restart the 3d application and try to render with V-Ray.

If that does not solve the issue can you please let us know what is the 3d application that you are using, the exact version of V-Ray that you have installed and if you are able to access the license server at http://localhost:30304
