  • Syncing Video Playback with Backmagic Decklink

We are using a Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme running HDMI to a Panasonic PT_AE4000U projector to view our dailies. Our issue is that the video playback does not sync between the projector and the monitor of the computer running PD Player. This has always existed since we purchased the software but it now more prevalent that we have the need to playback audio as well. I have tried checking/unchecking synchronize display, high CPU usage / low CPU usage etc but nothing has changed the playback.

Does anyone have experience with syncing playback using a blackmagic card? Thanks.

    Hello,

It is unfortunately true that the Decklink output lags behind the monitor output. This is pretty much unfixable because the delay mostly occurs within DirectShow and the Decklink driver. The only suggestion I have is to try the option of using an HDMI output of the video card as a secondary monitor and Pdplayer's "Secondary Display" output. (You need to uncheck "synchronize display" then as it affects the primary window.)

Thank you for your reply. We actually came across that very solution using a DVI to HDMI convertor out of the video card and running HDMI to the projector. Using the secondary display output the monitors now sync up which allows us to have audio sync as well.
