  • Soft Clip and Color Mapping Exponential

    Sorry,
I'm pretty new with pdplayer and I'm exploring it for the first time...
I'd like to know if there is a link between the "Color Mapping-->Exponential" in Vray and "Color-->Soft Clip" slider in Pdplayer.

I mean, if I render an image in vray using Linear like color mapping and exporting it in pdplayer increasing the "Soft Clip" slider.. it's the same then render the same image in Vray activating the Exponential color mapping?

Sorry if it's a stupid question.

    Bye!

    Hi,

Yes, both parameters can be used to pretty much the same effect.

The exponential color mapping in V-Ray doesn't allow for colors to have values higher than 1 by applying the exponential curve and bringing all bright colors smoothly down. The Soft Clip does pretty much the same. It brings down colors that have a value of above 1 smoothly down to 1 by applying a curve so that there is no hard clipping.

    Best Regards
    Jimmy
