  • Phoenix FD 4.20 for 3ds Max and Maya

    Hey Phoenix/Pheonix people!

    With the release of V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max, we release a compatibility update to Phoenix 4 for both 3ds Max and Maya, called 4.20.00 (a.k.a. update 2)

    This time:
    - [3ds Max only] We added support for V-Ray 5 and 3ds Max 2021;
    - Maya support for V-Ray 5 beta is in the nightly builds until V-Ray for Maya releases officially: https://nightlies.chaosgroup.com/mai...x4maya/nightly
    - Support for Particle Shader Fog mode rendering with V-Ray Next GPU and V-Ray 5 GPU.
    - Initial versions of Particle Shader Bubble and Splash mode rendering with V-Ray 5 GPU are also in, but need a lot more work.
    - We also added support for particle displacement for Fog mode.
    - Particle Shaders can now be rendered in V-Ray CPU IPR in 3ds Max. Now only rendering of Simulators remains to be implemented in 3ds Max's V-Ray IPR.
    - We improved our Maya Mesh mode and the Maya Cached Playback integration.
    - We improved the accuracy of TexUVW for smoke simulations and also implemented filling an emitter's volume with TexUVW and RGB. Before you could only map TexUVW on the surface, so e.g. melting a textured object revealed that the inner volume was not colored.
    - Velocity Streamline Preview ported from the Standalone Preview to 3ds Max and Maya.
    - Particle preview for the Standalone Preview app is now implemented as well, so you can preview and save image sequences with it is well.
    - Once more we did a lot of refactoring under the hood so we can be developing faster, and as usual we fixed many bugs.
    - We dropped support for 3ds Max 2015 since V-Ray also stopped these builds.

    You can find more info on the What's New pages here and the full changelog here:

    As always, you can download the 3ds Max builds here:

    and the Maya builds here:

    Some of the new simulation features could not make it in time for the synchronized release with V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max, so look for them in the nightly changelogs:
