  • Possible to fade out a sim in Maya without resimulating?

Is there a way in Maya to animate the transparency of an imported sim so it fades out over a few seconds, without having to resimulate anything?

    Hey,

Sounds like you can since transparency is a render setting and it's not related to simulation, but you need to tell us what Phoenix render mode we are talking about - is it a mesh, a volumetric, or the particle shader?

    Cheers!

If I can take a guess that you have a smoke cache sequence, then what you need to do is to go to the Rendering rollout -> Smoke Opacity and animate the Simple Smoke Opacity (in case Based On is set to Simple Smoke).

Fantastic. The Simple Smoke Opacity was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
