  • Grid Adaption

    Hi,

I have a smoke sim, with the grid boundary conditions as open, which is fine but i have a long sequence and the smoke expands out quite a lot. As it does the sim time goes up obviously.
If i put the boundary conditions on jammed so it doesnt expand, the smoke then hits the container walls as if solid and goes up the side.
My question is, is there a way to have the boundary condition on jammed so it doesnt expand and have the smoke carrying on as normal simulating, yet when it gets to the container wall it just goes through it and not changing the path, so the smoke inside just carry's on acting as normal??

    Cheers

    Hey,

If the Adaptive grid checkbox is turned on the grid will expand when the walls are open. If the checkbox is off - the smoke will pass through the walls of the grid.
In the Adaptive grid settings you can explicitly set how far the grid can expand from the Maximum expansion options so that it won't expand forever and in this way limit your simulation time.

You can find more about it here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...d-AdaptiveGrid
