  • Procedural question: I want to extend a smoke simulation by 50 frames, that has already had a resimulation done on it.

OK, so here is the situation I need help with please:

I simulated 300 frames - then did a re-simulation to add some extra detail.

I have already rendered the first 300 frames and cannot re-render.

I want to simulate an extra 50 frames (and then presumably re-simulate them).

If I restore my simulation and then extend the first phase simulation, and then re-simulate - will there be subtle differences, or will it just carry on perfectly?

What would be a good workflow for this?

Or is the only way this goign to work goign to need re--rendering from the start?

    Should work, try it

Turn off resim, restore the base sim.

Then enable resim and restore the resim.

    Cheers!

I noticed an issue that meant I would have to re-render the whole thing anyway (well, I didnt' have to, but... meh) so I thought if I am gonna do it, I'll just re-sim it all... your answer didn't seem convincing enough... although it would be a good case study!
