  • How to improve quality for still / high resolution images

    Hello,
I am user of Your fantastic Phoenix FD plugin for few months. Since I create mainly still images I have few questions regarding using PFD in that subject:
    1. Which parameters in Fire Smoke Simulator is responsible for the high quality detail. I usually create images in 5000px + resolutions and I noticed the default quality is far too low for such big images. The detail is unsufficient and blurred.
    2. Is it possible to simulate (for instance the explosion) in low quality and then recalculate ONLY 1 FRAME in very high quality ? I don't need to have few frames for motion blur etc. Just one particular frame. Is it possible without recalculating the whole animation in high quality?
    3. Is it possible to remove all unnecessary frames saved as aur. files and keep only one I want to use in my still image?

Thank You for Your amazing effort in providing us such a great tool.
    All the best,
    Piotr

    Hello,

    1. In order to get higher quality images you need a higher grid resolution. Having more resolution will add more detail though it will make your simulation slower and it will consume more RAM - so you should be careful about it.
    2. Yes, you can do that using resimulation, though you will need to resimulate the whole simulation - one frame won't work. You will need your base simulation to have velocity enabled in the Output rollout before running the sim. The just set the start and end frame and run the resimulation. You can find more about it here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...e+Resimulation The other option is to use displacement.
    3. Yes, you can delete the cache files you don't need. If you wish to use only a single cache for the whole timeline range you can set the mode to Cache Index in the Input rollout of the Simulator and set the frame you would like to use. You can find more here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ireSmoke+Input

    Cheers,
