  • How do I Only Resim A Single Object's Sim?

    Hey, folks!

So, I know this is probably a SUPER basic question, but I'm struggling a bit with figuring out how to only resim the objects that I want to resim. I'm super new to Phoenix, so I just hit the play button whenever I want to sim, but that ends up resimming EVERYTHING in the scene. Is there any way to only resim single objects?

Thank you for your time and I apologize again about the basicness of the question!

    Hey,

Pressing the Run sim button is running simulation only for one of the simulators, although the preview gets updated each frame for every simulator so probably that's what is going on in your case.

The resimulation process works on one simulation grid, and everything that is in this grid will be resimmed. If you have a large grid with several objects inside, you cannot resim just one object.
If you have two grids you can (and have to) resim only one grid at once.

waaazoo , ah, I'm very sorry, I meant to remove my last comment in the thread about the foam tail and accidentally deleted the whole thread Please ping me when you find more - If your ship is in real scale, the rising and falling speed could be a bit fast, but not too much - I'd reduce them twice as well just in case.

Just checked the support ticket as well - Sticky Foam also looks suspicious to me - if you don't really need it, keep it at 0.

err, should we continue here? Or should I only respond to the ticket per mail?
Sticky foam was just a try out to see if that makes anything on the out of grid foam.

Any way it's convenient to you - maybe in the forums it will be quicker than through Support. What I meant about the Sticky Foam was that just to be on the safe side, it might be good to zero any unneeded options, so we can exclude them from the suspect list.

Spark29, sorry to kidnap your thread ! (do you want me to open a new one?)

                Hi Svetlin,

B2B was my friend but isn't anymore. B2B is the devil. Here is the result with B2B at 0
Sticky foam is at 0 (as it was before except for one of the tests) and all other are as shown in the support mail.

Ah, scandalous! Is it possible to send over the scene in the support thread? B2B at 50 is really not supposed to do such evil things, so it's definitely something we gotta break down and resolve.

Spark29 , sorry from me as well! It definitely is not one of my strong days noticing things - I just saw the last reply was by waaazoo and continued the tread...

                      Hi Svetlin,

Did you have a chance to look at the file with the B2B problem ? I would like to know if I did anything wrong or if it's a Phoenix unwanted behaviour.

                      best,

                      Olivier

                        Hey,

I'm still re-running the scene, removing settings and lowering resolution, but it looks to me like I should just add a warning message that Surface Tension and B2B should not be used for ocean fillup sims. Will ping you if anything changes, but seems like such tools for small scale sims should remain only for that kind and be kept off for large scale sims.

                        Cheers!

Oh. That is sad. It was looking nice with B2B.
