  • Wave Force [Maya]

    Hi,

I'm trying to use Wave Force with Maya 2018.6. I looked at the docs and at the example beach waves scene, but I'm not sure I did well.

I have my grid with infinite ocean which had already his own ocean texture. I created a Wave force and plugged the same ocean tex into the wave force ocean texture.
So far, the sim doesn't produce any splash or foam. It's a fairly calm ocean.

My question is, do I have to connect in some way the simulator and the wave force ?

    thanks

Hey, it must be that the wave force it just too weak with the current ocean texture settings. Does boosting the Strength of the Wave Force 10-20 times change it?

Let me warn you in case you are trying to combine wave force with an infinite ocean though - it won't work out of the box. If you have an infinite ocean, it's displaced with the ocean displacement at render time and counts on the simulator having no simulated waves in it. If you simulate real waves using the wave force, the ocean displacement will be applied to this and potentially double the effect, making stuff going on inside the simulator different than just the displacement over the infinite ocean. I want to some back to this and make it possible, but still can't get there...

OK, you have to push wave force very high.... but as you said wave force in simulator and infinite ocean are not friends...

I think I found a solution for what I want to do
