  • Helicopter over water

    Hi,
We are trying to get this done using phoenix fd https://youtu.be/-6NYy-eyWNk?t=32
a fire fighter helicopter is getting water.
Do we need to use smoke for a very fine mist?

The second problem is airplane dumping water https://youtu.be/OJiHrzdhgNQ?t=222
Is there good trick for it. It is a lot of foam should I use smoke?

Also what forces to use to create this kind of water movement ?

    THnak you

Thanks. Possible for both heli over water and airplane dumping liquids?

For the airplane just smoke driven by fast particles should do the trick

                Hi Svetlin,
in this video Pixar planes https://youtu.be/Vr2yt5_X9ro?t=218
when the red helicopter dumps red liquid do you think they used any forces? it seems like liquid rotates. And if I use smoke what's the best conservation method and material transfer. Should I also make fuel buoyancy negative?

I hope my liquid wont look like smoke. Like in this other example it looks like fine mist dumped https://youtu.be/Vr2yt5_X9ro?t=236

                Thank you

The rotation of the liquid is what you would get if you increase the accuracy of the smoke solver by increasing the Conservation Quality. You could also add any forces with subtle strength if you want to make the fluid do anything special, but for this setup I think they won't be needed. I don't think you need to use fuel and fuel buoyancy at all. You could use negative smoke buoyancy or temperature below 300 to make the smoke subside.

If you emit your smoke from particles and drive it using the particles' motion velocity, it should not behave like pure smoke, but like the reference you shared.

                        Hi,
Any updates? is it a new feature or a tutorial? Where can I get it?

                        Thanks

                            Hi Svetlin,
we still cannot get water right when it gets dumped from a helicopter like here https://youtu.be/Vr2yt5_X9ro?t=236
Do you have any sample scenes or the best settings to match what they have. Ours is more like smoke than small water particles. And yes we use pflow
In the cartoons it stays together nicely like water

also should the grid be attached to a helicopter or stationary over fire?

                            Thank you

                              Hey,

Can you show us how your sim looks and the settings you're using?

There is no need to attach the grid to the animated helicopter if you're trying to match the video - leaving the simulator static will do the job.

                              Cheers,
