  • maya vortex field does not work in my scene...

hi, I´m new to phoenixfd 4 maya , and testing the beta 3.99.
I rebuild the dustdevil tutorial from max in maya. but I cannot get the vortex from maya getting influence in the scene. whats wrong. is it s bug or does I have to connect the vortex in the sim or source? I test a whole day all possibilities, but no changes / no tornado ;( other forces from phoenix work fine. Can anybody have a look at my scene? thank you!

    Hey there,

we have a Maya version of the Dust Devil already prepared - the trick was using a Drag field together with the Volume Axis field. I've attached the scene file to my post.

We'll check what the issue with the Vortex force in your scene is.

    All the best!

      Heya,

so the Attenuation parameter of the Vortex field in your scene is set to 4.

A very easy way to check how a force might affect the simulation is by adding it to the force preview set of the simulator and enabling Forces under the Preview roll-out (note: GPU Preview has to be disabled).

      Cheers!

wow thank you guys!! that´s exactly what I want to rebuild. the dragfield version is nicer, so it was good to see the difference if I have to produce a simulation like this.

You made my day guys! )

        regards tom
