  • Smoke sim floating above ground plane?

Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue?

I've been working on a rocket launch sim (based on the scene provided by Svetlin Nikolov) but I have noticed that the smoke floats above the ground plane object I have in my scene.

If I move the plane up then the smoke moves up again off the surface. It's almost like there is some sort of offset or padding but I am unsure of the setting to turn it off or down so the smoke hits the ground instead of floating above it (I have tried lots of different grid settings with no improvement).

    Please see image for example

I can also see it in the actual video that provided by Svetlin here:

Ah yes, you gotta change the Object Voxels under the Interaction rollout to Inscribed - this way obstacles for fire/smoke sims will not create obstacle voxels which must always completely cover the underlying geometry, but instead will create obstacle voxels only inside the geometry.

Another note just in case - in general, you should also avoid using planes and other open geometry - in this case it works, but it might get you in trouble in other setups.

    Cheers!

Excellent, thanks for that help and info Svetlin. I can see how the ground plane object would not support Inscribed.
