  • How to convert object in to Smoke (e.g. into a VDB)?

    Hello,
for fluids there is a initial fill-up in order to get an object made of liquid.

I would like to have an object initially made of smoke, but exactly matching the mesh shape.
How to achieve this? I think I could convert it maybe somehow into a VDB?

    Thanks

Hey, sure - in a fire smoke sim, pick the object into a Soruce, set the Source to Volume Brush mode and the brush effect to 100%, and animate it to 0% right on the next frame.

This is basically also the manual way to get an object full of liquid without using the initial liquid fill option

    Hope that helps, cheers!

Disable every channel in the Source BUT the Smoke - Temperature rises up when you have Gravity enabled. Buoyancy affects just the smoke.

Sounds like you gotta go through these pages just in case
