  • How to set up a complete cloudy sky?

    Hello,

is it possible with phoenix FD to create a complete cloudy sky or is there anything else recommended?
I have seen the tutorial for a single cloud, but this is maybe not suitable to build an entire sky.

My research only led to a Blender plugin, but maybe this could export then VDB to phoenix FD.
(actually I'm not familiar with blender )

Thanks for any tips on this

Hey, there isn't a one click solution to generating whole cloudscapes in Phoenix - there were other topics in the forum where I explained in more detail when you can use different approaches for generating single clouds, such as this approach:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/.../Static+Clouds
... or using the Cloud toolbar preset.

And after you have generated one cloud or a set of different cloud shapes, you can instance them in the scene manually or using V-Ray instancer and render them out. Note that V-Ray instancer would require rendering in Volumetric Geometry mode.

Hope this helps get you started in the correct direction, cheers!

When I move in the IPR through a loaded VDB, then it does not load again.
So I am quite blind in exploring my scene. It is set on "volumetric geometry"

Is there a way to go in IPR through the scene?

      Thanks

Yes indeed, there are issues with IPR not updating in Max.. Are you using V-Ray CPU or GPU? Is there any difference in updates between the two?
