  • Mesh Mode and Ocean Mesh Mode Have Different LOD to the Displacement

I am finding that Mesh mode and Ocean Mesh mode produce water with different levels of detail when using displacement. I have the Subdivs in Ocean Mesh mode set to 1.0.

Is there some trick to get them to match?

This is related to my previous topic about deleting parts of the mesh, but I think this is a separate issue deserving a separate thread in case someone searches for it.

    Thanks.

Let me double check. Quite a while back there were requests either about equalizing Ocean Mesh with Cap Mesh, or Mesh with Cap Mesh... If it was the former, then maybe it diverged over time as we did changes and I gotta equalize it again...

Hey, sorry, this one remained unanswered - I've misread that there is a difference in detail between Ocean Mesh and Cap Mesh, while you were asking about Mesh vs. Ocean Mesh, sorry about that!

The Ocean Subdivs option affects only the Ocean and Cap modes, since even at 1.0, it might create extra polygons and there is no way for it to leave the regular Mesh mode intact. It might be an interesting idea to allow Ocean Subdivs to affect Mesh mode though...
