  • GPU Phoenix FD. Calculate Simulation on GPU

    Hi guys !

It is available to do/run the simulation on a GPU ?

CPU takes long and also the Windows 10 update makes ever worst.

This is the first time I hear about a windows update slowing the simulation down. Which update did you install? How many cell per second did you get before and after? Maybe the.windows update brought in a bad driver?

As for GPU simulations, the hype is back! If you get Phoenix 4.30, you will find that it's quicker than older versions and this has been the case for many of the Phoenix upgrades. We've always been making the previews, the simulation and the rendering faster, so with the same old cpu you would be getting more Phoenix work out the door more quickly. Don't believe everything you read or hear about gpus, they are still very limited when it comes to simulation and there are many things that are not just slower kn gpu, but also are impossible currently. I believe one day gpus will be able to really rival cpus when it comes to simulations, but right now you can only have some fun with some low res simulations, but if you want to get some real work done, things will start becoming sad quicky.

    Cheers!

      Hi Svetin !
      Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I dont know. Take like ages to do the simulation.
I will need to check "how many cell per second I had before the Update"
      This will take a bit.

Yes ! Correct ! Windows brought a lot of Problems not only for the Softwares, but for all.
I had a situation where the Hard Driver was running at 100% for nothing.
Then I had another situation where the RAM was exhausted at 100% to without having open nothing.
And now even with a Quadro Cards inside and a XEON feels slow the system too.

      What ?
      Really ?
I need to have a look which version I have.

If I dont found how to active the GPU, I will for sure contact you again

      Sad to hear.
But yes ! No worries ... I dont belive nothing before I test myself and after making my own conclusions.
Is not only about the GPU itself.

The configuration of the Motherboard, RAM, CPU and Graphic Cards makes everything work @ 1% or in a good configuration of Workstations then @ 99% perfection.

      The thing is this.
Using the CPU as a calculator of any Simulation then will be hard to do something else in the same workstation.
By combining the buffers and the VRam between the CPUs and the GPUs will for sure not a huge charge/load/stress only to one Hardware - in this case the CPU.

I will check a little bit more about this and I will come back.

Thank you for your support and time !

      Cheers !
