  • Jacuzzi Steam

    Hi all

I'm starting to sim some steam for a jacuzzi.

I'm following a RedefineFX video where steam is created based fluid for a sink simulation.

    I've simulated the fluid already

I've followed the video but pressing start on the PFD fire container freezes Max - well.... it doesn't sim and says 'not responding'

I assume because there are too many particles in the jacuzzi to process.

I've just tested only keeping the surface of the jacuzzi fluid - I've killed the rest.

    And still it hangs.

Does anyone have any tips to sort this. I'd ideally like to have it react to the jacuzzi fluid but looks like I'll just have to emit from a cylinder or something

The below image shows the amount of particles I'm testing with - I have to have some depth for some emitters to create turbulence

After 5 mins it woke up... then froze - so, it's creating the steam but as you can see it looks very dense

Having said that, the cache file is only 4mb

Sounds like you might have too much stuff in the scene interacting with the simulator. Can you triple check?

If you have any geometries that should not interact with the fluid, add them to the exclude list in the Scene Interaction rollout.

Same goes for any forces, or any particles systems. Especially watch out for geometries with a huge number of faces.

      Cheers!

        Me again.

Nothing seemed to fix it. I've just sent an email to Chaos tech help but here's the scene (and a few fluid cache files) in case you want to have a look

I just tried simming the smoke straight from a cylinder face and that works fine. So it's something to do with it reacting to the fluid.

        Thanks again

Ahhh, you have both a Liquid and a Fire container. Hmmmm. Okay, let's see what the Support guys will find.

            Me again (again)

Still on the topic of smoke/steam - I was wondering why my camera wasn't rendering in but perspective it was.

My camera was slightly inside the smoke container - As with Corona's volumetrics, you can't have a camera in the box with the volume material.

All I had to do was make the grid a bit smaller so my animated camera didn't go in it.

But, what if I can't do that? Is there a way to have a camera within a smoke simulation?

            Thanks (again)

              Hey,

Placing the camera inside a Phoenix Simulator has never been a problem with V-Ray or Scanline. Are you rendering using Corona now? Phoenix should show up in the render no matter if the camera is inside or outside the grid.

Note that if you are looking at the viewport GPU Preview (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...iew-GPUPreview) and it makes you think what you see in the preview will be what you see in a render - it's completely separate from the render and is there to help you setup your shading.

              Cheers!

                Hi. Yes, using Corona.

It was showing in the viewport but not in the render - I was using IR so maybe a proper render would work.

I'll try and do a quick video later showing it happen

                Thanks
