  • Can I delay an object with active bodies

    Hi there,
I have a little sim but want to delay when some objects fall into the fluids. With Active Bodies it seems everything starts at the same time, but I want these objects to become impacted by the fluids and enter the fluids at particular times.

Is there a way to achieve this?

    Thanks

I tried animating making them static objects but there was no way to set a key for that it seems. Hopefully there is something with this obvious that I am missing.

    Thanks,

I dont suppose there is a way to animate the density either of an object?

        Hey,

Animating density/mass and the static checkbox is in the to do list, but it is doable and should be coming soon in the nightlies.

As a workaround for the delay - you can set the Original Animation influence to 1 - this would slow down the fall considerably (though the body still will be somewhat affected by the gravity) and when you wish the body to fall naturally animate the Original Animation influence to 0.

Will let you know as soon as we have something in the nightlies.

        Thanks!

ooh THAT is very exciting. I am messing around a lot with particle tuner and active bodies and can see a lot of things to do. What would be ideal... now wait for it.. have a component in the particle tuner that can control Active Bodies i.e. if the fluid is within a certain distance of a mesh object, enable an active body. Imagine a hallway where you have fluids flooding and when the fluid his a spot on the floor it triggers a door to drop. Could be totally dynamic then also and purely driven by the liquids.

            Hey,

Just wanted to let you know that in the latest nightly you can now animate the weight and the static checkbox for the objects. So you can give it a go

            Cheers!
