  • chopping up Phoenix smoke grids

    Hi
    is there a way to "chop up" a large phoenix smoke grid into smaller grids?

    essentially I'm working on cloudscapes, I have a large cloudscape, but it would be nice to take a "chunk" of that cloudscape and have it as a smaller separate grid which i can place where i want

    is it possible, i can use vray distTex to achieve/mask the area I want it, but it would be nice to have smaller manageable chunks

    Hey,

    The distance texture is one way of doing it.

    The other way would be to use the render cutter option. It allows you to render the volume inside of the bounds of another geometry or outside of it.

      I knew that way too, just wanted to know if we could actually "cut out" part of sim into new container, to make things more manageable
