Have simmed out an explosion and saved out all fluid channels. Trying to understand how to wire up a noise map with the PFDgridTex map to add more detail into the fire/smoke of the render. Either by modulating the fire and/or smoke opacity so it follows along with the movement, or in the color of the fire. I recall adding bump that moved along with a water sim but this wire-up escapes me. Thanks!

how to wire up GridTex map with noise

Hmmm, adding more detail to a fire/smoke sim does not necessarily include a grid texture.
Instead, you plug the map you want in some of the texture slots in the Fire / Smoke Color / Smoke Opacity rollouts.
In order for it to move with the fluid, you need to enable Texture UVW in the output rollout and simulate again though. Check this tutorial: https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...ing+Thin+Smoke - this one maps the smoke opacity with noise, but you can also map the smoke or fire color, or the displacement.

Ah, here are a couple more videos, one of which is showing the displacement with Tex UVW as well: https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4MAX/How+to+VideosSvetlin Nikolov, Ex Phoenix team lead

Hi. I'm gonna piggyback on this thread, if it's no problem :>
I've tried using UVW map with modulate but the fire renders black. I have UVW channel export on. Any reason behind this? Tried different noise at different scale, without improvement. Any tips? Thanks

Hey,
Can you send us a simplified scene to check what's causing the problem?
Also, could you tell us which exact versions of V-Ray and Phoenix are you using?
In order to find out the Phoenix version you can check the About info window. 3ds Max/Maya → Top 3ds Max/Maya Phoenix FD Menu → About Phoenix.
You can find the V-Ray version in the Render settings window → Settings tab → About V-Ray rollout.
