  • breaking up a fluid sim

    Hi folks.
I have my fluid sim which is a viscous liquid pouring over some machinery. When the fluid rests on the floor it's very flat and boring, what is the technique to break this up with some holes.
It currently looks like a flat puddle and want to get some interest in there.
    Thanks.

    Hey,

There are a few things you can try:

1 - You can add a few invisible (non-renderable) colliders on the ground - this can look strange if they are too large and stick out of the ground too much though.
2 - You can add a body force with a negative force that will repel the liquid from a certain object (you can create a dummy object and push the liquid away from it)
3 - You can create a Turbulence force and using the Particle Tuner make it affect only the particles that are near the ground - this will be tricky as the liquid might look too unnatural if the turbulence is too strong.
4 - If changing the emission is an option, you can animate the liquid source discharge or add a noise texture to the the source to act as a mask - this will randomize the emitted liquid and should give you some variation.

    Hope this helps!
